After intern in Taiwan on February 2019 and had holiday until March 2019, I went back to Batam.
I decided to take a break and not looking for jobs. Around April or May, one of my friend tells me if Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Bali is having a job vacancy for Chinese Speaking Butler. That time, I did not seize the chance, and I really regret it afterwards. Now (15 Jun 20) working at Mandapa become one of my wishlist. I did not know more about Mandapa, but know I know, it will be really a golden chance to be able to work there.
To continue, on June 2019, I started applying job at Singapore hotels, restaurants or even events company. Once I feel really happy when I received the response email from 1 Group Hospitality. They arranged an interview date, and luckily I am also going to Singapore at that particular time. So, I told them that I am available to go for an interview at their company. Everything went well during the interview, but after that they tell me they do not have quotas for Indonesians employee. *smile painfully* or maybe I did not do well during the interview. Well, let's move on.
I started to look job at Malaysia, this time is not hospitality related. I thought a lot and not sure which job is actually suitable for me. One of my friend applied at Teledirect Malaysia, he tell me all the benefits and the job scope. I found it interesting and worth to give it a try. So, I applied, but it is different position with my friend. My friend is positioned at Airbnb section, while I am at digital services, where actually I feel or maybe I do not know whether this is for me, because I do not know a lot about digital services. Since it is different knowledge that I gained from my degree. But, I still give it a try. They have their interview differently, it is on a website and I am talking by myself while answering the question provided. Unfortunately, I failed the interview around 16th June 2019.
After that, I gave up looking for jobs at Singapore or Malaysia. I decided to apply hospitality jobs at Bali. I applied many different hotels, there are different hotels reply, like The Mulia Bali, but they offer restaurant positions, while I am applying for Front Office positions or Butler. Then they never reply my message. After that, my friend ask me to apply to Mandapa again, then I get a chance to do my interview with Mr. Dama, he is so friendly by the way. But during that time, they do not have any butler job vacancies, so he said that he will keep me as their ready talent on 18th September 2019.
After quite sometime I tried to look up about Management Trainee (MT) by IHG and Hilton. I thought about applying MT from both properties. After I look into it, at the ended I only applied for IHG MT, because I felt that I know more about IHG rather that Hilton. Since I have done my both internships in IHG properties. I applied IHG MT on 3rd of March 2020. Then I recieved an email on 10th of March regarding that I passed the first step and I need to do the cognitive assesment. I did the assesment on 13th of March 2020 and receieved the result on 24th of March 2020 saying that I passed the cognitive assesment, but because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, they need to postpone the recruitment for MTs. IHG still managed to emailed and keep us updated about the when are they going to continue the recruitment (1st of May 2020 & 16th of June 2020).
On the same time will waiting for the opening of Marriott Habour Bay Batam, I applied as At Your Service Agent and Concierge postion on Marriott job website on 25th of April 2020. Then on 23rd of May 2020, I received a Whatsapp chat from Bu Prisca (which now I called her Kak Prisca) She asked me whether I can go for an interview on 25th of May 2020, and of course happily I agreed to go for the interview with Mrs. Henny (DOHR). On that day, I get to do a hotel tour (still in renovation) with Kak Prisca. Then I received news that I need to do 2nd interview with Mr. Dushyant Singh (DOO), honestly I am so happy and hope that I could finally have a proper hospitality job that I have been waiting for such a long time. While I am typing this, I am still waiting for the offer letter from the hotel as per 15th of June 2020.
